GoodMove Crop Top Review

December 27, 2022
The following is an impartial review on the GoodForm Crop Top. It includes the backstory as to why I ended up wearing this top, along with the pros and cons of this product in the hope that it might help others in a similar situation.

Urticaria (Hives)

For several years I suffered from Urticaria (hives) and it was hellish. I would wake up every day covered in itchy, ugly, hives. They would be all over my limbs, chest, stomach. There didn’t seem to be a limit as to where these hives would appear. At it’s best it took three different antihistamines to get them under control for the day but then I’d have “flare ups” and the antihistamines wouldn’t touch these, so I'd have to take a five-day course of steroids. I’d also suffer from angioedema which is when parts of my face, such as my eyes or lips would swell up, it wasn’t a pretty look. I made numerous lifestyle changes but to no avail, nothing seemed to stop me waking up daily, covered in these hives.

Can't take the Pressure

One other unpleasant side effect was that I couldn’t wear anything that put too much pressure on any one part of my skin. If I wore anything like that, it would be horribly sore and would leave behind marks that look like my skin was scarred for up to 24 hours after wearing it. This meant that I had to change my wardrobe completely. I couldn’t wear normal trousers as the waistbands were often too thin so I had to switch to jumpsuits and, all of a sudden, I couldn’t wear bras either. I could just about get away with a sized up tank top that had an elastic strap around the bust. That gave me some support and coverage but not the same as an actual bra.

Somewhat Settled

While my urticaria and angioedema has, for the most part, settled down (apart from when I’m feeling run down). My skin is still super sensitive, and I still can’t wear “normal” clothes yet.

GoodForm Crop Top

This Christmas just gone, I’d obviously made it onto Santa’s nice list as one of the presents he gave me was the GoodForm Crop Top. This Crop Top is normally made for Yoga or considered “sports wear” but it had been given to me as an alternative to a bra. I decided to put it to the test on Christmas and Boxing Day.

I wore this top under my usual layers like I do with my usual tank tops and even though it was sized up, it felt well fitted but not too snug or like it was compressing my chest. It felt like it was supportive without putting any pressure on any particular one point. I was concerned that it might pinch on either the bottom seam or around the arms, however, I was pleasantly surprised that it didn’t pinch in either of these spots or anywhere else. It layered underneath my polo neck nicely and gave me support and coverage which didn’t hurt, wasn’t uncomfortable and didn’t leave unsightly marks on my body after wearing it all day. Honestly, I forgot that I was wearing it at times.

Putting it through it's paces

On Boxing Day, I was prepared to be out in the cold so I was layered up. The layer over the GoodForm Crop Top was a slightly dipped neckline and so the crop top, which has a round neckline, could be seen. I was wearing a t-shirt over the top of this along other layers so this wasn’t the end of the world on this occasion, however, I have made a mental note not to wear this with any necklines that aren’t fairly high.

Pros

  • It's comfortable
  • It doesn't leave marks on your skin
  • It doesn't pinch
  • It doesn't put pressure in any one place
  • It provides some support
  • It provides plenty of coverage

Cons

  • The neckline is quite high so you may be limited as to what you can wear it with. That said, they do also have a V neck version that I'd be interested in trying out

Conclusion

All in all, I'm impressed with this top. If I had to describe it to a complete stranger in just a few words, I'd probably say something along the lines of "it's similar to wearing a swimming costume, but you're only wearing the top part". I'd reccomend it to anyone who has found themselves in similar circumstances to me.
